Chippiannock got 42% of the votes in the poll! Thank you to everyone who voted for the
cemetery to get the replacement trees after the big storm took out nearly 150 of them on
July 21. Chippiannock Cemetery will receive 75 trees this fall because of you!

The superintendent Greg Vogele also sent this press release out calling for volunteers for a
      clean-up day:

Volunteers needed for cemetery clean up.

The July 21st storm ripped through historic Chippiannock Cemetery uprooting and
snapping off trees, some of which predated the cemetery opening in 1855. Downed trees,
branches and limbs cover many gravesites. The clean up and restoration effort will take
      months of work to complete.
In order to allow the cemetery staff to resume mowing the cemetery, individuals or
community and church groups are asked to assist with efforts to clear the smaller sized
      debris from the cemetery.

Saturday August 9th beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing to 2:30 p.m., we are asking for
volunteers to pick up branches and limbs lying on the gravesites and stack them along the
roadways. Volunteers are required to check in at the cemetery entrance at 12th Street and
29th Avenue and sign a release from liability before beginning to help. Youths age 12 and
older may volunteer if accompanied by a responsible adult or relative. Bring your gloves
but leave your chainsaws at home.

If organizations would like to schedule an alternate volunteer day, please contact the
      cemetery office.

Call the cemetery office at 309-788-6622 if you have any questions or would like
      additional information.
Your message has been successfully submitted and would be delivered to recipients shortly.
