      Hi All,

This is a transcription of a death record that I think could belong to my GGGG Uncle Hugh PAYNE, b. 9 May 1814 in Dromore, Co. Down, Ireland.  The family moved to Belfast sometime before the Famine.

I would like to obtain a copy of the original record-- preferably computer/digital copy but paper copy if necessary.

What is the least expensive option (I'm in the US)?

How likely is it that the original record will have additional info.?  I'd like parents' name (or at least father's); wife's name, name of informant, etc.

Thanks a lot in advance for advice,

      Camille in Maryland, USA

Camille, you may already know this. But if you are looking for ancestors in County Down, check out Ros Davies’ pages. For example, there are transcriptions of news items organized by surname, and there are a bunch of Paynes in Dromore on this page (nothing relating to Hugh, though):

          http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rosdavies/SURNAMES/P/Pa.htm

And, a page related to Parks/Parkes (I saw that was your Hugh’s mother’s maiden name):

          http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rosdavies/SURNAMES/P/Parks.htm

          Hi
          All,This
is a transcription of a death record that I think could
          belong to my
GGGG Uncle Hugh PAYNE, b. 9 May 1814 in Dromore, Co. Down,
          Ireland.  The
family moved to Belfast sometime before the Famine.

          I would like to
obtain a copy of the original record-- preferably
computer/digital copy but paper copy if necessary.
What is the least expensive option
          (I'm in the US)?How
likely is it that the original record will have additional
          info.?  I'd
          like parents' name (or at least father's);
          wife's name, name of
          informant, etc.

Camille, you may already know this. But if you are looking for ancestors in County Down, check out Ros Davies’ pages. For example, there are transcriptions of news items organized by surname, and there are a bunch of Paynes in Dromore on this page (nothing relating to Hugh, though):

And, a page related to Parks/Parkes (I saw that was your Hugh’s mother’s maiden name):

            Camille,

You can view the original certificate on-line on the GRONI site, for £2.

            https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

Irish death certificates don’t routinely record parents’ names (except where the parent is the informant). What you will get is:

            Date and place of death,
deceased’s name (and address if different to place of death),
            sex,
            marital status,
age (ie the informant’s best guess),
            occupation,
            cause of death,
informant’s name and address and sometimes their relationship to deceased date of registration.

In this case date of death was 20th Jan 1869. (I can see that free from the GRONI indexes).

            Elwyn

            Hi
            All,This
is a transcription of a death record that I think could
            belong to my
GGGG Uncle Hugh PAYNE, b. 9 May 1814 in Dromore, Co. Down,
            Ireland.  The
family moved to Belfast sometime before the Famine.

            I would like to
obtain a copy of the original record-- preferably
computer/digital copy but paper copy if necessary.
What is the least expensive option
            (I'm in the US)?How
likely is it that the original record will have additional
            info.?  I'd
            like parents' name (or at least father's);
            wife's name, name of
            informant, etc.
            Thanks a lot
in advance for advice,Camille in Maryland,
