      heritage series lecture at the Herbert. D. Doan Midland County History
      Center 3417 W. Main in Midland on Tuesday May 15th at 7:30. Cushman was
      born in New orleans and grew up in Grand Rapids. Author William
      Christen who lives in warren wil talk about his biographical
      book "Pauline Cushman: Spy of the Cumberland". Cushman was a spy in the
      Civil War and in the years following her story took on the dimensions
      of legend, fiction and other darker stories. Christen a retired
      automotive engineer whose hobby is studying the 19th century spent 13
      years sorting out the fact from fiction about Cushman and visiting many
      of the sites where her story unfolded. admission is $5. For
