Pinot Noir Tasting Friday at Wolfe's Wine Shoppe
Friday May 18h
PINOT NOIRS at Wolfe’s Wine Shoppe
You're beautiful...a goddess...but so exasperating! Loving you is like worshiping an unfaithful temptress! As often as you've disappointed us with your undependable ways, you always seem to draw us back. Your alluring beauty and elegance leave us helpless and forgiving of all your moodiness. So long disdainful of any place outside of your home on the golden slopes of Burgundy , we’ve learned to pacify your temperamental nature with brisk coastal breezes and hillside vistas of the New World . Perhaps now you will grace us with all the charm and beauty that has kept the Burgundians devoted to you for centuries.
Wines to be tasted that will surely exhibit why Burgundians love Pinot Noir: Calera Vin Gris of Pinot Noir 2006, Castle Rock Sonoma County PN 2006, Tandem Peloton 2004, Talley Estate PN 2005, Calera Mt. Harlan Cuvee PN 2002, Domaine Serene Yamhill Cuvee PN 2004, Scherrer Russian River PN 2002, August Briggs Dijon Clones PN 2005, Ken Wright Elton Vineyard PN 2005.
$20 gets you in and gets you a Riedel glass to use and take home from the tasting and a $10 Credit towards a purchase that night.

Torbreck Woodcutter White 2005
Torbreck’s Woodcutter White is 100% Semillon from Barossa Valley , Australia . Semillon has always found a natural home in the Barossa. It was one of the early white wine grape varieties planted by the first settlers around 160 years ago and so the Barossa is blessed with a heritage of old, low yielding Semillon vineyards. Although not typically lemony, this wine exhibits more complex aromas of smoked almonds and honeysuckle as well as buttery textures from the natural malolactic fermentation. The palate displays a spicy mineral flintiness with exotic fruit flavors.

A California Collaboration of Reds
For all of you that love bright juicy California red wines:
Cartlidge & Browne Pinot Noir 2006- Medium-full garnet in color, the wine leaps from the glass with loads of baked cherry/berry fruit character, along with anise, spice cake and the ‘beety’ notes so appreciated in Pinot Noir.
Cafaro Napa Valley Merlot 2001- If you like full bodied Merlots, you can not beat this one for the price.
Crush Pad Red 2002-Aromas go for red fruits, but with a nice touch of sweet cured tobacco. Silky tannins, deft oak handling and impeccable fruit flavors, focused on raspberry and cranberry, make this wine a sure hit.
Justin Orphan 2005- Ripe aromas of cherry, plum and blackberry fill the nose and combine with a touch of smoke resulting from the new American oak.
Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon 2005- The color is purple, ruby red, with aromas of blueberry, cassis and mocha. The entry on the palette is rich and fruit forward, with jammy flavors, good structure, acidity, and sweet balanced tannins that leave an elegant finish.
Huntington Petit Syrah 2005- Purple stain, purple stain" describes this true-to-form inky Petite Sirah, a grape also known as Durif. Neither petite nor Syrah, here is dry fruit pie of a wine, powerful but not a bully, more like a gentle giant
