The philosophy at Chateau Montelena is simple: make the best. Period.

Chateau Montelena defined their style in 1972 - fruit, first and foremost,
balanced by an underlying structure of natural acidity for an elegant and
balanced wine that provides both drinkability and ageability.

Winemaking at Chateau Montelena is regarded as a continuous process that
begins in the vineyard, which is why they use the term "winegrowing".
Exceptional wine can only be made with exceptional grapes.

Montelena starts by planting the right grape in the right place, then
capture and carefully nurture the natural flavors and structure without
treading on the inherent qualities of the fruit. The winemaker, faced with a
myriad of options and several hundred decisions to make, is guided at each
step in the process by Chateau Montelena's philosophy to make the best. Each
wine brings the finest characteristics of both the vineyard and the vintage
      to your table.

Three decades of experience with the same varietals and vineyards have
earned Chateau Montelena recognition as a world-class winery.

      James Barrett, Vintner, Chateau Montelena
"Montelena Futures will most benefit those who value our track record of
extraordinary Cabernets year after year after year."

Why buy Ch Montelena Estate Cabernet on futures?
      Three reasons...
      1. you insure that you will get the wine
      2. you will reap the benefit of significant dollar savings
      3. no other California Cabernet has so dramatically proven itself to both
get better with cellaring and increase in value.

Read what a host of periodicals have written:

Robert Frick, Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine
"Winemaker Bo Barrett turns out a cabernet of such exceptional quality that
its popularity often makes it hard to find on the shelves at any price.
Fortunately, Chateau Montelena has begun its own futures program, and we
suggest you take advantage of it ."

Robert M. Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate
"No other winery in California has such a consistent record of excellence
over the last 25 years. Montelena's Estate Cabernet Sauvignons are
equivalent to buying blue chip stock."

      James Laube, Wine Spectator
"Chateau Montelena's dark, rich Cabernet Sauvignon is a hallmark of
greatness and consistency. Even in lesser vintages, Montelena usually
      shines."

Smart Money, the Wall Street Journal Magazine of Personal Business
"Based on numerous and consistent evaluations by wine experts, auction
results for at least a 10-year period and reasonable availability, we cite
Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon as one of the five California
wines equivalent of a Bordeaux first growth."

Every major wine periodical has rated the 2002 Ch Montelena Estate has "A"
      quality. Check out these reviews!

2002 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon Estate
      Review by Robert Parker
      Wine Advocate #150 (Dec 2003)
      Rating: (92-95) points
      Drink 2007-2027
The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is, as my notes said, "a serious,
balls-to-the-walls wine." Extremely full-bodied, powerful, and rich, with
high tannin, it is a chewy, perhaps less delineated, and jammier effort
reflecting the style of the 2002 North Coast Cabernets. Yields were a meager
1.7 tons of fruit per acre, and the final blend includes 99% Cabernet
Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc. By Montelena's standards, the 14.3% alcohol
is relatively lofty. It should be more approachable in its youth than the
more obviously tannic and structured 2001. While the tannin is more
noticeable, the fruit is riper, and the wine is more of a heavyweight,
although the 2001 has significant size. The 2002's anticipated maturity is

      Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/Jun 04
Good full, bright ruby color. High-toned, slightly sauvage aromas of exotic,
liqueur-like berries, bitter chocolate, game and menthol; shows a distinctly
candied aspect. Then superripe and very concentrated in the mouth, with
slightly medicinal flavors of kirsch, chocolate and menthol. A bit drier and
less suave in the middle palate than the 2001, and quite tannic today, in
the style of so many 2002s. This will undoubtedly be filtered, noted
      Zacherle. 91-93 points

Wine Spectator Issue: Nov 15, 2003
Firm, intense and tough-edged, as Montelena often is early on, but with a
solid core of spicy currant and blackberry fruit that's deep and
concentrated. The finish keeps a tight focus. Score range: 92-94 (JL)
