      Armando & Gary,
Thanks for the responses to my query. I do not seem to fit into any of the deep ancestry classifications posted by Gary.
Someone else recently posted that all of their "close matches" are with folks of English/Irish/German ancestry. The same
thing happens to me @ 12 markers. I know that does not mean much except for ancient dna, but I am puzzled that I don't
seem to have any close matches with Spanish/Mexican testees. Am I understanding this correctly or am I simply not
      getting it??
      Buen dia,
      Michael Bravo

      Hello Michael,

Thank you for contacting me. I greatly appreciate your comment. I found your kit number in the R1b-DF27 project. I went to the SNP tab under Y-DNA results and it provides all of the SNPs that you tested for which are -

      L176.2-, L21-, M126-, M153-, M160-, M173+, M18-, M207+, M222-, M269+, M343+, M37-, M65-, M73-, P107-, P25+, P312+, P66-, SRY2627-, U106-, U152-, U198-, Z196+

A plus sign means the test was positive test and a minus sign means it tested negative.

You tested positive for Z196 which is directly below DF27 so you are positive for DF27 because all other Z196 are positive for DF27.

Here is a diagram of the DF27 tree

      https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17907527/R1b-DF27_Descendency_Tree.jpg

The whole R1b tree can be seen at http://www.isogg.org/tree/ISOGG_HapgrpR.html

I am short on time at the moment so I will have to look into what else you can test for on another day.

      Hasta pronto,
      Armando

From the DF27 branch of the haplogroup tree:

you are negative at L176.2 so you could still be positive for Z294 and Z220.

I couldn't find your name or email in the project so I found your kit number as you posted it in this email.
López, BernardinoPenjamo, Guanajuato Mexico>California. Haplogroup R1b. Most common origin in Spain and Europe. See these YDNA 9 marker Iberian matches in a - YHRD database search. Oldest Ydna ancestor - Bernardino Lopez b.circa 1850, Email Bernardino Lopez

As we get more samples from Guanajuato I suspect a match will come up.

        I don't match anyone either.

        Saludos,
        Gary

Thank you for contacting me. I greatly appreciate your comment. I found your kit number in the R1b-DF27 project. I went to the SNP tab under Y-DNA results and it provides all of the SNPs that you tested for which are -

                Saludos,
                Gary

                Hasta pronto,
                Armando

                Hello,
In reference to your posted reply, I am sending you this info directly.
I am impressed with your seeming in-depth knowledge of dna and
specifically about "Mexican dna". So I am providing you my kit #
155630, and would greatly appreciate any/all advice, interpretation
                and recommendations for further testing.
                Buen dia,
                Michael

                      Michael,
R1b-P312 dominates Western Europe and DF27 should be the biggest representation given that the distribution shows  founder effect in Iberia.  By being positive for a downstream marker like Z220 you are eliminating a big chunk or R1b as more recent relatives.  Also we are learning more about the marker the more results we get.

Given the draft tree below, you could test at FTDNA for Z214, Z278, Z216 and L629. While these SNP's or Markers all appear to originate in the So France Northern Iberia area their dispersal is important to how they spread to the rest of Europe or if they stayed for the most part in the area more recently but still when the populations of Western Europe were relatively small.

                      Saludos,
                      Gary

                        Hello,

I am so confused with all of these tests.  I have always believed myself to be Spaniard, Mexican and Indian.  However, my population finder makes no mention that I am Spaniard or Mexican.  My Grandmother is Aurora Cordero, from Fresnillo Mexico.  Her mother Senorina Vasquez Borrego.  I am told that I am Russian and Finish, Mid Eastern, and Maya Indian.  The Russian, Finish and Mid Easter are large percentages with a margin of error of 11%.  What should  I make of this.  I am familiar with the past 5 generations of my Family and none are Russian, I do understand that it could be many generations back but for this not to find any Spaniard or Mexican in me seems highly unlikely that this test is correct.

My kit number is 296354.  Also I have joined several projects including the Russian and the only ones I am matching to are Casa de Espana, Mexico, New Mexico, and Jalisco DNA project.  I think they are wrong.  But as I said I am new to this and don’t know a whole lot about.  I met an individual who I believe was a relative of my Grandfathers.  We decided to have our DNA checked and we are 2nd cousins.  This connected our two families which is why I decided to be tested.

I appreciate any input you may be able to offer on my results.

                        Thank you,

Theresa Diana Baca Ragin (Ragin) married name.

                          Hi Gary,
Yes, I saw the results today.  So now I am positive for Z220, what if anything does this tell us? What should I test next? Am I currently Basque??
                          Buenas,

I think your results are showing you where your ancestors came from before they settled in Spain. Maya Indian is your native Mexican. Don t be so worried

Don't be so worried about your origins. It sounds like a beautiful mix. It gives you a lot of insight into your ancestry and why you look like you do.

For example, my father's family has been paper traced to the 1600's in Jalisco, Mexico. My mother is not Mexican My DNA mix is 90% European, 6 ½% Native American (this is Mexican), 0.9% a mix of Middle Eastern, Sub-Saharan African and North African. Because of my paper trail there is no doubt my father is Mexican. He is of European and Mediterranean descent. There were many peoples from many places who settled in Spain over the eons. That's not to say they weren't Spanish. My father's Haplogroup is J2b1. His family came from Spain.

                              Linda,

Thank you, I had spoken to them and they explained it was deep ancestry.  It was just so strange to have such high levels 39% Russian/Finish margin of error 12.0%,  28% Mid Eastern margin of error 11.5%, and 32 Maya margin of error 1.02%.  I agree it is a great mix.  My Haplogroup is C.  I joined several projects and the ones I match with is Mexico, Casa de Espana, and New Mexico.

To the group:  My Grandmother Aurora Cordero is from Fresnillo Zacatecas Mexico.  I would like to know how I can get a certified copy of her birth record.  I have found it on the Family Search website.  Her death certificate lists her father as Aurelio Cordova when he is Aurellio Cordero and does not list her mother Zenorina Vasquez Borrego.  My Grandmother passed away in Colorado. I would love to get this corrected but was told that I need proof.
