      Hello Peggy,
      some (about 50 percent on average) of your Uncles X chromosome would likely be inherited from his maternal grandfather. See 

      23andme.com would be the best way to see the X chromosome breakdown with a download of their Countries of Ancestry utility comparison. The cost is 99 dollars for ancestry and health results. There is some overlap of ancestry results but 23andme currently has a larger autosomal db and compares X chromosome dna.

      Some confuse Mtdna with X chromosome dna and they are separate and distinct.

      Is there any test that can be done on me (female) or my uncle (my father's last living brother) that would give us a way to trace the DNA of his mother's father? We've already done Family Finder. Is there an upgrade that would go beyond Family Finder to help break down a brick wall?
