with strikes on Gaza.

Israel Air Force aircraft attacked targets in the northern Gaza Strip,
and a smuggling tunnel in south Gaza overnight Monday, after a rocket
hit southern Israel and lightly wounded a woman.
The IDF spokesperson reported direct hits on the targets, and said that
the strikes were carried out in response to rocket fire on Monday, which
wounded an Israeli woman.
The rocket, which landed in southern Israel, lightly wounded the
50-year-old woman. The rocket fell near one of the communities in the
Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, causing shrapnel wounds to the woman's
legs, who was then transferred to Ashkelon's Barzilai hospital. Several
neighbors were treated for shock.
The head of the Hof Ashkelon district, Yair Farjoun, said yesterday, in
response to the Monday's attack that “firing a rocket on an open area is
like firing on a built-up area. We must deal with the Qassams.”
Two weeks ago, three Qassam rockets were fired into southern Israel and
exploded in open areas. IDF forces retaliated with IDF strikes on Gaza,
wounding seven people.
Israel has stepped up its air strikes on Gaza lately in response to a
resurgence in rocket strikes at Israeli towns that have caused no injury
but disrupted routine.
