  • Doug Prather found a BLACK-AND--WHITE WARBLER near the mouth of Kelsey Creek yesterday. He was able to get a photo. That species is very difficult to find in Lake County. This is only the 5th record for the Fall and the 7th record overall for the county. Jerry White for Doug

  • Four of us spent mid morning yesterday looking for the bird first discovered by Bryan McIntosh. We heard it call numerous times and got brief glimpses of it. However we were not able to get any photographic evidence despite a great deal of effort. If other birders look for this bird, be advised there are Pacific Wren's here also. • Just got another call from John; the BROWN SHRIKE was found again (by Rich Trissel I believe). This time the bird is being seen on the most westerly point of the bluff which is on the north side of Alder Creek. So it has moved a long ways from where John first found it earlier today. • John Luther just called. He saw the BROWN SHRIKE briefly from the overlook above Alder Creek at 12:00 PM or so. The bird was actually seen in the pasture area to the east of the overlook. He saw it a second time in the same area around 12:40 PM for about 10 minutes before it disappeared. He phoned around 1:10 PM. Jerry White for John Luther

  • Decided to chase some of the good birds that Dave and Mary Beth Woodward found yesterday. I saw the LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE on Loconomi Road; the BURROWING OWL and Ferruginous Hawk on Callayomi Road and later in the day found the PRAIRIE FALCON on Butts Canyon Road. Also found 2 Tricolored Blackbirds in a large blackbird flock on Callayomi Road. In a distant flock of mostly Common...

  • Yesterday there was a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER seen at Pirate's Cove from Lakeshore Drive, Clearlake. On a pond visible from Sulphur Bank Drive there was a Cackling Goose and a Hooded Merganser. Then at mile marker 23.62 on Hiway 20 just west of Glenhaven I saw the adult male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE first found by Dave Woodward and his group on Saturday on the Christmas Bird Count. Also...
