  • There was a male RBGR at the end of Madsen Lane east of Fort Bragg at 4:30 on Saturday, Sept. 28. Madsen Lane is about 3 miles east of Hwy 1 out Oak St./Sherwood Rd. Turn south on Madsen for 1/4 mile to two locked gates. The bird was just inside the gate to the logging road on the left that goes down to the Noyo River. I have not looked again, but I will on Tuesday. The bird may...

  • During the recent few weeks I have seen a OCWA feeding at my hummingbird feeder, as I did through the previous winter season. I wonder if anyone else knows of this behavior. Last winter, while the warbler was at the feeder, the dominant male Anna's seemed to tolerate the warbler...

  • Monday Sept. 5. Yesterday, Sunday, I saw the Bobolink three times at the Little River Airport. It was in the area reported by Richard, in the grassy areas at the marked end of the taxiway. The sightings were between 11:30 and 12:00. The bird flew from the grass west of the taxiway east into the grass between the taxiway and the runway where there is a storm drain grate. It then...

  • I was in the Fort Bragg cemetery today at about 4 pm. In the most northwest Banksia there was a sapsucker working on one of the small trunks. It was back-lighted so I could not see color or pattern. When I circled the tree for better light I could not find it. Being there earlier in the day would be better. There were also hummingbirds and Yellow-rumps in the trees. Art Morley...
