Red-Necked Grebe & Ring-billed Gull - Hardy Rock & Creek
- Thurs, 15 August 2013 -- A breeding plumaged RED-NECKED GREBE was between Hardy Rock and Hardy Creek this morning. A young, first-cycle RING-BILLED GULL was drinking from the creek. It was in very fresh, 'juvenile' plumage. Also noticed in the area were Common Murres, Pigeon Guillemots, Western Grebes and PURPLE MARTINs at nearby Juan Creek bridge.
This area is where Hwy 1 turns inland toward Leggett. The Mile marker for Hardy Rock is 83.30.
