10 December 2012 (Monday) - The pond in the field just east of the
Banksia tree at Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens held a lone Hooded
Merganser. It might have been either a female, or a first-year male; in
the late-afternoon glare it was difficult to tell.

the flowers had turned their throats yellow!
