MCBG birdwalk tally
- Wednesday 17 October 2012 - On our regular third-Wednesday birdwalk, we
tallied 58 species, unusually high for this late in the year. Nothing
particularly rare, except perhaps the vocalizing pair of Peregrine
Falcons who flew right over us - we might have missed them if they
hadn't been making such an unusual noise! Only the second time I have
heard that "rusty gate" call.
Also somewhat unusual were the 13 Black Oystercatchers perched together
on one rock. At least 10 were clearly adults, one was clearly a
juvenile, and two we couldn't be sure of.
