HARLEQUIN DUCK at Glass Beach
- Sat., Oct. 13, 2012: This morning there was an adult male HARLEQUIN DUCK at Glass Beach in Fort Bragg. He was in the cove south of the main beach (walk south along the GP property fence about 100 yards) on a near-shore rock. I watched for about 10 minutes but didn't see any other ducks.
Some other birds seen: four pairs of BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS and one single one on the off-shore rocks; in the willows east of the main beach was a mixed-flock of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, one YELLOW WARBLER, one ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, a couple of BUSH-TITS, HOUSE FINCHES, a SONG SPARROW and one BLACK PHOEBE.
