- 24 September 2012 - Monday - This morning at about 8:00 AM George Chaniot, Karen Havlena, and Chuck Vaughn, found a Black-throated Sparrow along the Usal Road, which is county road 431. The bird was about 1/3 to ½ mile from Highway 1 (Usal Road starts at milemarker 90.86 of Hwy 1). They marked the spot with a yellow flagging ribbon. It is about where one can first view the ocean ...and it was with other sparrows. This is, I believe, the third county record. Good birding. Posted by Bob Keiffer for GEC,KHv, and CEV.
