I came across this article a few days ago.

      http://www.jstor.org/stable/4062997?seq=1

The area along Thomas Creek is only about seven miles downriver from the Chapter's annual Eel River fieldtrip and the mountainous area very similar to the one around Hull Mountain.

The last five pages are birds collected and identified in two late spring and early summer trips over 110 years ago.
Common names show some differences from today's usages.

Lierlie's Ranch is now the Ascherman Ranch.
At the time of Mr. Bunnell's trips there was a settlement with a mill, resort, school and Post Office on Ericson Ridge about three miles east of the ranch.
      I hope you enjoy it.
