- Greetings Mendobirders! The Mendocino Coast Audubon Society will
conduct the first official Fort Bragg Christmas Bird Count on Monday,
January 2, 2012 - and we're asking for your help.
The newly-authorized circle (CAFB) is centered on a point just south of
Fort Bragg and covers roughly the area from Big River on the south, to
Little Valley Road on the north; extending east past the Parlin Fork
Conservation Camp on Highway 20, and west about 4 miles into the Pacific
Ocean. The circle is divided into 8 Areas, each with an experienced

participate for all or part of the day. This is a wonderful opportunity
to take part in a massive Citizen Science project, joining the tens of
thousands of birders across the Americas who will brave the uncertain
weather - or stay home and watch a feeder - to count every bird of every
species they can find in one day.
