Long-tailed Duck at Van Damme
- Sunday, April 10, 2011
A Long-tailed Duck in lovely winter plumage was in the cove at Van Damme State Park on Sunday morning, during the monthly MCAS field trip. It was hanging out with a Surf Scoter. There were a number of Pigeon Guillemots and Western Grebes also in view.
The group also got good views of a singing Warbling Vireo (several more were heard), a gorgeous Wilson's Warbler and a Pacific (formerly Winter) Wren, among the usual coastal suspects. Sadly, no Gray Jays were seen or heard.
