Fri, 3 Dec 2010 -- Richard Hubacek just called that two SANDHILL CRANES
are near the Garcia River mouth.  Richard was scoping from the overlook on
the bluff near Point Arena lighthouse when he spotted MEN County birds #303.
From Hwy 1, take Lighthouse Rd west.  Park by the old kiosk at the entrance
to the lighthouse property, and take the trail E/NE to the edge of the
      bluff. The

cranes were in some scrubby habitat between the river and the first pasture on
      the Stornetta land.

This is possibly the same pair seen in flight on 15 November in Anchor Bay
by Jeanne Jackson.  Bob Keiffer predicted the birds show up at the Garcia
River flats.  Congratulations Richard!   Hopefully, the pair will stay for the
Mendocino Coast CBC on 30 December.

      For Richard Hubacek,

      (K Havlena)
