Sun, 9 May 2010 -- This morning there was a very late LEWIS'S WOODPECKER on
Pine Avenue in Potter Valley sitting in the middle of the road - would you
believe? - about a half mile up. The TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD colony at the
10707 mailbox on East Road is going full tilt now with adults provisioning
nestlings. Most stages of the nesting cycle can be seen from the car window
      at the mailbox.

Fri, 29 Nov 2013 -- At 10:00 this morning there was a distant, but scopable, BURROWING OWL visible from the high spot above the pond on Burris Lane,Potter Valley.  It was about 400 yards to the NE just beyond the third fence in that direction and to the left of a large, prominent oak.  Steve Stump and I saw it again in the same spot at about 4:30 in the afternoon.
On the 27th I saw a female/immature type EURASIAN WIGEON among 110 American Wigeon on the pond on West Road N of the cemetery.  It had a very rufous head and speckled, gray axillaries visible when it flapped its wings.
