4 May 2010 - University of Calif. Cooperative Extension Specialist Mr. Greg
Giusti, Shane Feirer, and I, are looking for volunteers to help search for
Turkey Vulture nests at the UC Hopland Research & Extension Center (HREC) in
southeast Mendocino County. HREC is a 5358 acre research "ranch" comprised
of blue oak woodlands, mixed hardwoods, and chaparral habitats and turkey
vulture use is rather common (for nesting) but undocumented. This
three-year study is looking at basic "Turkey vulture nest selection
criteria" and skills would include hiking in rough terrain, good
data-recording skills, and GPS use. You would be signed up as a
"volunteer" and would have to be subject to some basic field-safety
training. Anyone interested should contact me, Bob Keiffer, at
      rjkeiffer@... or 707-744-1424 ext 112.
