Hawk Talk Alida Morzenti Returns to Ukiah
to Speak on Courtship and Nesting Among Raptors

Last September an overflow crowd in Ukiah heard Alida Morzenti --live
kestrel perched on her wrist -- give an exceptional slideshow/lecture
on Diurnal Birds of Prey. The talk, which was part of Peregrine
Audubon Society's monthly education program, was so popular that
Peregrine is bringing Morzenti back, again accompanied by a live
kestrel. This years subject is a more specific look at the lives of
raptors the fascinating details of their courtship and pre-nesting
behaviors, as well as their mating, nesting, fledging, and
post-fledging habits. Peregrine expects to be able to accommodate
everyone comfortably this year in its new venue at the City of Ukiah
Council Chambers, 300 Seminary Avenue on Thursday, October 20, 7 p.m.
The Council Chambers has a marvelous large screen and tiered seating,
so no one will have to stand or bring binoculars! Please come to learn
more about these strong, fierce, and beautiful birds that have inspired
      humans for millennia!

Morzenti is a funny, fast-paced, and skillful lecturer who keeps her
audience on its toes. She is also eminently qualified to lecture on
birds of prey. She taught Avian Science classes at UC Davis for many
years, including courses on raptors, and led students in raptor surveys
and captive raptor management programs. She has worked extensively with
the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory on the Marin Headlands, and is
currently the executive director and president of the Santa Rosa Bird
Rescue Center. She is the author of a book called Captive Raptor
      Management.
