Field Trip to Round Valley: November 20
1) Slideshow/lecture: "Hawaiian Adventure - in Ukiah" - Photographs of white sand beaches, blue-green waters, and fuzzy albatross chicks will abound in this presentation by wildlife biologist Amy Leist. Curious albatrosses will nibble the toes of humans and "talk" to them as well. Ms. Leist will share fascinating information about Laysan Island and its endangered monk seals, ducks, finches and 5 million albatrosses. Thursday, November 18, 7 p.m. Grace Hudson Museum Public Room. 431 Main St., Ukiah. Free admission. Sponsored by Peregrine Audubon Society.
2) Bird-watching Field Trip to Covelo and Round Valley
Join Peregrine Audubon on a field trip into one of California's most beautiful valleys. We are hoping to see numerous raptors, including Ferruginous Hawks, Peregrine and Prairie Falcons, Rough-legged Hawks, Kites, and Merlins. Also Lewis's Woodpeckers, Canyon Wrens, and waterfowl. Saturday, Nov. 20. Meet at Long's parking lot, northwest corner, at 7:25 a.m. Or meet in Willits at the High School at 8 a.m. Bring a lunch and water, and come prepared to carpool.
