  • Been awhile since I did fracture billing. Dr. did casting CPT 29075 on 5/18/16 and then removed the cast on 6/20/16. Can we charge for the cast removal? I'm thinking no due to "global" services. Pt is Medicare & Dr. is primary care. Thanks! Melinda Brown, CMBS Ins Biller

  • What does your contract with Blue Cross state? You MUST follow contract rules above anythinge else. If we are contracted we bill all insurances unless told not to by the patient. If you do not bill the plan, then charges will NOT go towards the deuctible, nor can you provide the insurance company with any chart notes, etc. If the patient doesn't wish to have their insurance billed...

  • Josette, Our software is ICD10 ready. However, the doctor, nor the nurse, have had ANY training nor know where to start. I attend the AAPC chapter meetings and have taken some education on it. Dr. does the coding. I'm thinking he's going to want a book / CD until he gets going and is educated. Thanks! Melinda Brown, CMBS Ins Biller

  • We're a small family practice office. We have 3 users who will be working with ICD10, including the physician who will do the coding. Can anyone recommend some specific ICD10 products, either as a coding book, or on a CD, that are good for a family practice office. We also do some minor surgery procedures and peds (well childs & immunizations). Any help you can provide would be...

  • Well Josette..."he saw an article"... hey, can I bill for these? I'm using an EMR". And that was where it ended. He's not using the EMR for the MU requirements, as he chose not to pursue it. We attested the first year and it was too much for him. We're a small one doc office and we're taking the MU hit starting this year. The hit was easier than the hoops. I'm thinking he saw the...

  • Is anyone billing Medicare for the Chronic Care Management? CPT 99490. The primary care provider I work for is wondering about billing for these codes. The problem I see is he is NOT using his EMR appropriately in order to document, nor is he working towards MU. He is retiring in 2018. Can anyone give me their take on billing Medicare CCM? Your help would be appreciated. Melinda...

  • There's nothing to appeal. We as Primary Care run into this often when we provide mental health services at the PCP office. We just bill it onto the 2ndry ins., as Medicare Part B DOES assign it to patient responsibility. It was phased out in full by 2014. Thank goodness! Here's more info. http://www.apapracticecentral.org/update/2013/11-07/medicare-outpatient.aspx Melinda Brown...
