- Word of mouth. It's the birds of a feather law; doctors hang out with other doctors. If you are good at what you do, the doctor will be bragging about how good their billing is (which I report where I stand on national averages). Once you saturate your local market, there are plenty of targeted marketing you can do. Getting names of associates out of the area (ie docs they went to school with) from your current client base and target them. Of course, if you are mediocre or not doing a great job, the birds of a feather theory is just as powerful against you.
