488Arlington Mass. Ave. project begins; meeting June 16
- May 30, 2014
MassDOT's contractor for the reconstruction of Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington this week began initial steps for the project. Early operations will include the installation of construction signs, erosion control measures, protection for trees, and drainage work. There will be no impact on sidewalks or peak-hour traffic.
The $6.84 million project will reconstruct Massachusetts Avenue from Pond Lane to the Cambridge-Arlington town line. The work includes reallocating roadway space to include a three-lane cross-section for vehicles along with new bicycle and pedestrian amenities. Sidewalks will be rebuilt, crosswalks enhanced, and traffic signals modernized.
Arlington residents are invited to learn more about the project’s construction and 2014 operations and meet the project team at a public information meeting as follows:
Thompson School, Gymnatorium, 60 North Union Street, on Monday, June 16th at 7:00PM.
MassDOT's project contractor is J.H. Lynch and Sons. The project is expected to be complete in the spring of 2016.
