I am puzzled by something I noticed in a recent viewing of SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON. As the troop is fleeing the indians and are about to cross the river, leavins Lt. Cahill as a delaying action, Mrs. Allshard (Mildred Natwick) is trying to calm the little girl when the sergeant on horse back says, "Tell her about the boat", what is this in reference to? Is there a scene or some reference that was cut from the film that refers to a boat?

I have attached a clip of the scene, I hope someone can help answer this quandry.
