Group Description

The McCracken and Allied Families of Bradford County, Pennsylvania, and beyond.

HENRY McCRACKEN, born 2 Mar 1782 in Knowlton, Sussex (now Warren) Co, NJ, and his wife ANNA MARGARET EVERETT, born ca. 30 Nov 1784, also in New Jersey, came to Bradford County, PA and settled at Rummerfield, Standing Stone Twp, between 1820 and 1827. Henry and Anna Margaret were the parents of six boys and two girls.

The McCrackens of Bradford County were farmers, laborers, soldiers, entrepreneurs and public servants. Above all they were solid, respected members of their communities.

The owner of this site is a sixth-generation descendant of Henry and Anna and is their last known direct male descendant living in the county today.

It is our hope that this site will facilitate contributions to their memories, to their histories and that of their progeny.

Photo: Clan MacNaghten. The McCrackens are a sept of Clan MacNaghten and are entitled to wear the badge of the Clan. Some few McCrackens claim allegiance to Clan MacLean.
