      At a news conference on natural disasters, scientists warned that a
      volcano on the Canary Islands is slowly slipping into the ocean, and
      if it erupts again it could collapse and cause a tidal wave that
      would head straight for the east coast of the United States and
      Canada. The Cumbre Vieja volcano erupts every 25 to 200 years; the
      last eruption was in 1971.
