Group Description

Massachusetts public school districts do not have a system for providing comprehensive educational audiology services to deaf and hard of hearing students in inclusionary settings. This group will be a grassroots forum to explore the most efficient way of providing/legislating educational audiology services to our students.

Massachusetts Educational Audiology Task Force
MISSION STATEMENT (approved 6/04)

The Massachusetts Educational Audiology (MEA) Task Force seeks to ensure
that every child in the Commonwealth receives identification and follow-up
services related to hearing. The goal of MEA is to create statewide
educational audiology services. These services will identify children with
hearing loss and auditory disorders and determine appropriate services in
accordance with federal regulations and consistent with current theories
of best practices. MEA seeks to accomplish this by collaborating with
public schools, public agencies, the state legislature, and other
education and health professionals. The outcome will be full access to the
curriculum for every child with hearing loss.
