      Since our calendar New Year is a secular one rather than a religious holiday, it shouldn't offend anyone except Jehovah's Witnesses, who don't celebrate any holidays at all, including birthdays.

      Is it polite to say Happy New Year to someone who is Jewish?  I¬íve heard they celebrate the New Year at a different time of year so I just wanted to check.
