1) Progress On Fiber Optic Cable

3) Ft. Lauderdale reefs threatened by Dredge and Fill Project
4) Management, Monitoring and MPA's
Cry of the Water has been in contact with the commissioners and
employees of the FWCC (Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission). We
have brought to there attention the rich marine resources located just
off Ft. Lauderdale beach. We provided them with tapes and copies of
the joint study conducted with the Global Coral Reef Alliance.
It is our hope that these efforts will bring to their attention the
essential juvenile fish habitats that must be protected in order to
maintain a sustainable fishery in South Florida.
While Ft. Lauderdale's near shore reefs have not been effected by past
dredge and fill projects they are currently threatened by a newly
We will be discussing the need for a management and monitoring plan for
these reefs as well as our plans to go to the different agencies and
ask for protection.
Yes that means MPA's.
We have set up meetings with different state and federal agencies. We
would welcome your input and comments.

just papers for classes!), or how job hunts are going, or questions about
the best way to get into colleges and/or gradschools.

am getting my basics out of the way at community college and then in about a
year will be transferring up to Oregon State University to finish my degree
in Marine biology. When i get up there, is there a specific field i need to
into? I want to work with sharks.

Biology or Zoology would be good. If they don't offer anything that
specific, I would suggest Biology or Life Science as a major.
