Subject: [Marbling] New identification guide for decorated paper
Dear friends of decorated paper,
Have you ever been at a loss about which decorated paper you held in your hands? If so, "Decorated Paper - A Guide Book" will be of interest for you. Susanne Krause has published it recently with a team of European experts:
Karli Frigge, paper marbler (counsellor)
Susanne Krause, paper decorator (editor, author)
Henk Porck, conservation scientist at Royal Library Den Haag (author)
Julia Rinck, art historian, specialist for early 20th century papers (author)
Frieder Schmidt, historian/curator at German National Library (author)
Ida Schrijver, lector (lector, author)
The book is written in German, English and Dutch. The approach is visual, and can guide the individual, through a series of steps, to the identification of the paper in question. Assisting in identification are over 100 colored photos covering a wide range of decorated papers and styles. Users can work with it even if they are not knowledgeable about the actual techniques. The first big test, which came during the cataloguing of the first part (15000 sheets) of the collection at the German Museum in Munich, has shown that the guide book can be employed even in cases when a particular paper is not mentioned, simply by extending the threads.
Orders from the Americas, Canada and Australia are fulfilled by me, orders from Europe are fulfilled by Susanne Krause.
