      Hi Melinda,

My former supervisor Harry Campbell is now back at OSU as the Book conservator at the
library there. I did take some time to search through the Islamic manuscript collection,
and didn't find any mention of marbling per se. Nevertheless, it may be good to talk to
the Middle East specialist there about what may be lurking in the collection there.

Elizabeth's reply also prompts me to wonder whether or not the Cleveland Museum of Art
may be in possesion of any marbling. Perhaps if you or someone you know has time, they
can apply to perform a collections survey?

Probably one of the biggest collections in the Midwest is at the University of Michigan in
Ann Arbor. Roughly one third of Sultan Abdul Hamid is in the library there. Some
wonderful examples of Ottoman calligraphy, and possibly other items. I've only seen a
      selection of images.
