This is an addendum to the announcement of an upcoming Turkish
marbling demonstration at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts on Oct 29th.
A concert of Indian and Turkish Sufi music will also be presented the
night before, on Oct. 28th. This concert will feature among others,
Feridun Özgören, Güliz Pamukoglu, Niyazi Sayin and Eda Özbekkangay There is an
admission fee of $20-25 dollars for this event. For more information,

Together, the concert and marbling demonstration are planned in
conjunction with the current exhibition of Indian Art, "Domains of
Wonder". The exhibit features many examples of Indian painting drawn
from the collection of the late Edwin Binney 3rd, on loan from the San
Diego Museum of Art. This same show will later travel to the Dallas
Museum of Art, and be on display from November 18th 2007 until January
      27th 2008.

Of particular interest to marblers (aside from the demonstration, and
several works of the demonstrators on exhibit in the Islamic
Corridor), two examples of rare stencil-marbled paintings from the
Binney collection are exhibited. One is "Lady Praying at a Shrine".
This piece was the subject of detailed research including scientific
analysis by the late Christopher Weimann. He successfully reproduced
a facsimile of this work for his article on the subject published in
Fine Print magazine in 1983. This article was fully reproduced in the
book "Christopher Weimann: A Tribute", which can be obatined from
Ingrid Weimann. An online prospectus can be viewed here:

The other marbled painting featured is "A Dervish, Seated in
Contemplation". This has only been previously published as a black
and white reproduction in an appendix devoted to paper marbling,
written by the late Mark Zebrowksi in his book "Deccani Painting".
Both of these marbled paintings will be on display for the duration of
the show, until November 26th. A catalog for this exhibition is also
      available: <http://www.loc.gov/catdir/toc/ecip0512/2005013086.html>.
