Final Survery Tally:
The response was good for about one week then dwindled to nothing.
The majority of subscribers to the Yahoo Marbling Group did not respond.
Here are the results from the few that did take the time to answer.
(However, some did not answer all the questions, and others responded
directly to me.)
professional marblers- 5 full time, 4 part time, and marbling
instructors from this group-
5 teach publicly, three privately, 2 teach both, 2 demonstrate on a
1 gives public and private lectures.
amateur/hobbyists- 14; attendance at marbling gatherings- 13 (from all
categories) at international gatherings;
work areas for marbling: separate space in home- 11, studio space in
home -4, other space in home
as needed (such as kitchen)- 4, space away from home- none indicated.
The overall input is that most full and part time marblers also market
and sell their own
marbled products. Only a few are self employed with marbling as a sole
Most have full or part time professions not necessarily related to
marbling or the book arts.
To those of you who e-mailed their life history as a
marbler....interesting, but not necessary
at this time. I will continue to keep my "Marbling Resource File" open
to further considerations
in matters legitimately related to the craft which you feel might be of
interest to our worldwide
community...such as exhibitions, specials events, etc.
