      Hi Josyanne,

I've had some luck, writing to the village priest in Balzan. As you know, I too have been searching for information on Annunziato Borg, with very little success; however, the head priest has been very responsive to me when I have written to him. He has either written a summary in email or he will mail you a copy if you ask. You might want to give it a try. The parish email address is balzanpc@.... The parish website is: www.balzanparish.com, or you can also access it with this link: http://maltadiocese.org/lang/en/parishes/

Please let me know if you have a good response from the priest. Also, if you are lucky and receive the death record for Annunziato, I would love to have a copy if you wouldn't mind.

In the meantime, I haven't yet received a reply from the Malta National Archives, regarding the passports. I'll keep you posted when I hear back from them.

Example: Baptisms 1557-1936 (27 mss) = They have 27 Microfilms of baptisms between 1557-1936.

The latin Liber primus baptizatorum means baptisms

The latin Liber matrimoniorum means marriage.

The latin Liber defunctorum means death.

Sometimes you will see Status Animarum and that mean census records.

So, going back to my example. The list line reads like this:

      1.Liber primus baptizatorum (1557-1615) (HMML #Malta 2737)

and basically what that means is that between the years of 1557-1615 you will see baptism records on HMML #Malta FILM number 2737) AND SO ON.

      _____________________________________________________

It is a bit confusing in the beginning. Just remember it starts broad and narrows down to the exact roll of film you want to look at.

If you have never been to the Hill Museum and Manuscript Library at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota IT IS worth the trip. You can stay right there in a dorm at the university for $30 US with two beds in a room with a shower. There is a cafeteria on campus. You will get your own cubicle (carrel) with a microfilm reader. You can print as many documents as you want. You can buy the whole microfilm for $65US each. This place is the MOTHERLOAD !!!! You won't be sorry.

Now that you can navigate through this website take a look. If you have any questions please let them be known. Happy Hunting ... Carmen Borg carmenborg@... or maltamade@...
