Group Description

Dear Colleague

Men – we need you in frontline positions in long term care, but many artificial barriers exist for the male who wants to work in a nurturing role. The aim of the MNA Task Force is to identify specific issues relating to acceptance and training needs of males as caregivers; and to promote the acceptance of males in the care setting. Recommendations are sent to CMS and others.

We will send regular updates of legislation and issues relating to males in the care setting. You shape this listserv by sharing your ideas and concerns. In this way we can all grow and help each other. The Listserv helps us create a sense of community and it becomes your list when you participate

Nursing assistants provide as much as 90% of the hands-on care in this country and are critical to the wellbeing of our ill elderly, disabled and frail citizens... Many changes are occurring in health care today. The Slogan for the 35th annual National Nursing Assistants’ Week June 14-21, 2012 is “Nursing Assistants @ the Heart of Caring”

Projects 2012 are designed to help the NA recognize and respond in positive ways to some of the new demands and opportunities. Project areas include: the Language of Person Centered Care, Self Advocacy and “What’s your @?” - a special project to increase use of the internet by NAs. Safety Committees remain in the spot light to foster Safe Patient Handling and decrease worker and resident injury.

Watch for more info about slogan, logo, and projects for NAW 2012 on our web site: www.cna-network.org or email to cnajeni@aol.com

Our mission is to make a difference in care and lives of our patients and residents by supporting the people who provide as much as 90% of the hands on care in this country - our nursing assistants.
