Welsh piooners came to Argentina and many years later stablished a
meter gauge railway line (Ferrocarril Central del Chubut or Cubut
Central Ry.) from Pt. Madryn, to Rawson, Trelew and Gaiman.
Later, in 1922, lines were bought by Argentine State Railways and
regauged to 75 cm. and extended to Alto Las Plumas.

There is a book "Railway in the desert" by K. Skinner edited by
Beechen Green Ed.,Wolverhampton, UK in 1984.
Will be please if someone could locate a copy ro buy, or loan or
      scann for me.

      Thank you very much.
