      published a 2-volume work titled "A Leighton Genealogy". Volume 1 page 531
      includes the following information excerpted from the Gardner S. and Minerva
      (WHITNEY) LEIGHTON family.:

      Sidney Lamont LEIGHTON, b. 29 Feb 1868, North Yarmouth, d. 19 Apr 1927,
      North Yarmouth, 59y 1m 21d; unmarried. He farmed the family homestead.
      There is no mention of any descendants.

      Is anyone out there related to Sidney L. Leighton of Cumberland, Maine, b.
      abt 1868 - or knows of his descendants? He is in the 1880 census as follows:
      Leighton, Gardiner (age 54, farmer), Minerva (age 52, wife), Emily F (age
      27, dau, teacher), Gardiner (age 24, son, works on farm), Ellen B. (age 23,
      dau, at home), Sidney L. (age 12, son, works on farm), Alice M. (age 5,
