Don't Let Cintas Fire Immigrant Workers!
The Cintas Corporation is threatening the livelihoods of immigrant workers by following a controversial new Department of Homeland Security proposal. The proposal-which is not the law-encourages employers to fire workers who do not correct social security number mismatches or re-verify that they are authorized to work in the United States to their employers. Currently, Cintas workers in California, Illinois, Connecticut, Minnesota and Wisconsin face termination.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and numerous civil rights organizations are raising concerns that this proposed regulation could promote workplace discrimination.
If we allow Cintas to carry out this policy, many more employers could follow. Tell Cintas CEO Scott Farmer that this policy is unnecessary and immoral. The company should allow these workers to settle any social security number issue with the proper governmental agency.
Interfaith Worker Justice relies on contributions to support its work. Your tax-deductible gift will be strategically used to further justice for workers throughout the United States.
