      PART-TIME INSTRUCTOR POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CONTENT AREAS

      The Madison College Office of Diversity and Community Relations seeks Part-Time Instructors for Early Childhood Education courses offered under its Multilingual Occupational Opportunities Instructional Unit. Currently two part-time positions are available, one for credit bilingual/bicultural (Spanish/English) programming and one for non-credit, English programming.  This is for adult instruction. 

       

      Courses are offered on the weekend at our Madison College-South location, 2238 S Park St in The Villager. Candidates must meet the Wisconsin Technical College System certification requirements for these content areas.  Please apply online at matcmadison.edu/jobs under the DCR Part Time Instructor pool.  Positions open until filled.  Please indicate in your application the area for which you wish to be considered.  Pay is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement for part-time faculty at the college.

       

      Bilingual/bicultural positions require high levels of proficiency in reading, writing and oral skills in English and the respective target language.  Hired instructors will be required to submit official copies of transcripts.

       

       

      Early Childhood Education: Bilingual (Spanish/English) Preschool Credential -  Madison College has developed a Bilingual (Spanish/English) Credit Certificate in line with the Preschool Credential program that prepares students to work as teachers and caregivers in an early childhood setting. Students discover how to create and maintain safe and healthy play environments, they learn to plan and implement learning activities and they learn to work cooperatively with staff and parents.  This certificate careers ladders into our two year associate degree program in early childhood education.  Classes are offered Saturday afternoons.

       

      Instructor certification/qualification requirements include:

      ·         bachelor's degree (or equivalent)*

      ·         4000 hours (2 years) experience in content area

      ·         Working titles that provide this experience include:

      o    Preschool Teacher

      o    Program Director Preschool/ Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program

      o    Early Childhood Teacher

      o    Pre-Kindergarten Teacher                

      o    Kindergarten Teacher

      o    Child Care Administrator

      o    Child Care Teacher

      ·         Expertise/knowledge required:

      o    Working knowledge of Department of Health and Family Services (DHFS) rules and regulations

      o    Early childhood staff development and management

      o    Program planning and development

      o    Curriculum development

      o    Assessment plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities             

      o    Supervision of staff and student teachers

      o    Teacher/caregiver of young children

      o    Work directly with groups of children and parents

      o    High levels of fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English and Spanish

       

       

                     

      Early Childhood Education: State-Required Non-Credit Entry-Level Training - Madison College offers non-credit entry-level training for licensed child care centers, as required by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services (DHFS).  Classes are offered Sunday afternoons.

       

      Instructor certification requirements include:

      ·         bachelor's degree (or equivalent)*

      ·         4000 hours (2 years) experience in content area

      ·         Working titles that provide this experience include:

      o    Before & After School Teachers

      o    Recreational Directors

      o    Extended Day Teachers

      o    Youth Counselor

      o    Health/Physical & Recreation Teachers

      o    Camp Director

      o    Day Camp Instructors

      o    Elementary Teachers        

      ·         Expertise/knowledge required:

      o    Curriculum Development.

      o    Worked directly with care and guidance of school aged children (through age 12) in a group setting.

      o    Working knowledge of Department of Health and Family Services (DHFS) rules and regulations.

      o    Communications with parents, other staff and agencies.

      o    Knowledge of appropriate equipment, budgeting, staffing.

       

       

      *Educational equivalency:  Occupational experience combined with education and training preparing a person for the occupation totaling 7 years or 14,000 hours shall be equivalent to a bachelor's degree.  Each academic credit or equivalent credit shall be equal to 110 hours of occupational experience.  At the discretion of the district, additional criteria may be required beyond the minimum certification requirements.
