Subject: Take Action TODAY - Wisconsinites for Responsible Lending
Protect Wisconsinites from Predatory and Abusive Lenders
Call TODAY! Two minutes of your time can help protect Wisconsin families from abusive and predatory interest rates.
1) CALL Assembly Speaker Michael Sheridan at (888) 947-0044
a. Tell him to co-sponsor the Predatory Lending Consumer Protection Act
b. Tell him to assign the Act to the Consumer Protection Committee
c. It is time to protect Wisconsin consumers from abusive interest rates that average over 500% APR – the Predatory Lending Consumer Protection Act will cap interest rates at 36%.
2) CALL your representative in the Assembly and the Senate
a. Ask them to cosponsor the Predatory Lending Consumer Protection Act introduced by Representative Hintz and Senator Hansen.
b. Wisconsinites pay $124 million in payday loan fees each year – 90% of this money leaves the state of Wisconsin and does not benefit our economy.
c. Payday lenders leave working families in a worse position from where they started. 80% of borrowers take out more than 1 payday loan per year with 87% of loans occurring during the next pay period.
