    Dear Community,

Please join us to celebrate and learn from nationally-recognized educator and entertainer Dr. Jesus “Chuy” Negrete who will perform songs and share images of Mexican labor in the U.S. on Thursday, November 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Madison Labor Temple, 1602 S. Park St., Madison

Dr. Negrete will share poetic songs and corridos (running verse ballads) and slides as he traces the history of the Mexican-Latino experiences from pre-Columbian times to the present. Dr. Negrete has been called “the Chicano Woody Guthrie” by oral historian and radio personality Studs Terkel.

This free and open to the public event is co-sponsored by the School for Workers, Havens Center, South Central Federation of Labor, Movimiento Estudiantil Chican@ de Aztlán, Working Class Student Union and Worker Rights Center.  Refreshments will be available.

For more information, contact the School for Workers, 608-262-2112.
