      TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger

       

      (Washington, DC) – The Metropolitan Police Department would like to inform the public and members of the media about street closures in connection with the Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger scheduled for Thursday, November 28, 2013. The event will be from 8:30 am to 10:00 am. 

       

      The following streets will be closed from 5:30 am and are expected to reopen by 1:00 pm: 

       

      ·         13th Street from E Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

      ·         Pennsylvania Avenue from 14th Street to 12th Street, NW

       

      Race Route

       

      • Start on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW near 12th Street, NW
      • Go southeast on the south side of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
      • Proceed south on Third Street, NW
      • Turn west on Independence Avenue, SW 
      • Go south on Fourth Street, SW
      • Proceed east on E Street, NW
      • Turn north on Third Street, NW
      • Cross Independence Avenue and continue northeast on Maryland Avenue to First Street, NW
      • Turn north on First Street, NW
      • Proceed west on Constitution Avenue, NW
      • Stay on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to the start line

       

      All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

       

      Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes.  The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wish to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
