  • Well, it's working. They even have a different body language, now. They look sharper, more attentive. They also seem to be scanning the streets and intersections for something unexpected... like another MPD pop-quizz? Oh, my! Just keep those young brains sharp, agile... and ambulating, Lieutenant. They're better able to digest and utilize DCPS' brain food. ;)

  • ... for keeping a few LCM and BMS students focused on their respective schools-- and 'delivered from temptation' of public space/Metro weed-party loitering-- before and after school, some lunch hours too. As you may have noticed, these kids are persistent and resourceful. So being persistently watchful is key throughout the term. Thanks again. And they'll thank you some day, too...

  • CORNELL UNIVERSITY Criminals like darkness because it decreases the chance they will be identified by witnesses and makes it easier to slip away, while potential victims are less likely to see them coming. Robberies are less common later at night. For the robber it's a problem of supply and demand: In the early evening there are more people on the streets. Fall back and watch out...

  • FYI, a new crop of LCM before-and-after-school open-air/sidewalk drug partiers needs some persistent MPD-504 attention again. In addition to the nuisance for residents and Metro commuters, the threat of older LCM students adversely influencing younger BMS students should be nipped in the bud-- esp btw Metro and area snax convenience stores on 12th. Thanks. brian

  • Thanks, Lieutenant Mejia. But I think MPD should revisit some of its suggestions to keep up with new, changing Amazon consumer 'facts on the ground' -- so to speak. Amazon is feeling the hot breath of competition at the back of its neck (Walmart, Jet). So it has quickly changed and upgraded its service-- including same day delivery for Washingtonians. And it seems the more Amazon...

  • For more info, everyone can check out their local, PSA-level information at these links… http://geospatial.dcgis.dc.gov/PSAFinder/ http://mpdc.dc.gov/page/fifth-district-roster Just knowing who to call or write at MPD-5D for a non-emergency problem will be a time-saver, should anyone need it. LD’s community policing suggestions for the public are good, too. But everyone should...

  • Thanks, Commander. I'm always happy to share info and intel. There are really quite a number of watchful eyeballs in our neck of the district. I recommend our new LT touch base with Pastor Sutton at Guildfield, for example, as he's out and about most mornings. And I'll get you, Lt. Haselden and ACG our updated contact info, as we've consolidated our DC and VA numbers under one...
