PEPCO to Appear before the DC Public Service Commission to Discuss Outage Restoration, Reliability and Vegetation Management

On January 31, 2011, the Public Service Commission for the District of Columba (DC PSC or Commission) issued an order directing Pepco to appear before the Commission on February 10, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Commission Hearing Room, 7th Floor.

The Commission is concerned about issues relating to Pepco's reliability and restoration activities, both before and after the January 26, 2011, storm.  Of particular interest is the Pepco program for vegetation management, since it appears that fallen trees and branches may have significantly contributed to the electric outages. Moreover, in view of the outages suffered by Pepco customers during the period of January 26 through January 31, the Commission deems it necessary to consider whether Pepco is providing consistently safe and reliable service and whether power outage restoration efforts have been sufficient.

Although consumers will not be able to submit oral or written testimony at this hearing, the Office of the People's Counsel would like to encourage you to attend this very important hearing regarding Pepco's reliability, vegetation management and outage restoration process.

The hearing notice can be viewed in its entirety online...
