Subject: Unruly loiterers near Woodridge Vets Liquors at 14th & Brentwood Rd, NE

Dear Asst. Chief Groomes, Commander Greene, Ms. Smith and fellow 5D residents:

With the warmer weather, I ask that MPD increase its attention to the often unruly groups that tend to gather in front of and in the blocks adjacent to Woodridge Vets Liquors at 14th St., NE and Brentwood Rd., NE.  Particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings between, say, 5PM and PAM, there has recently been quite  a few people loitering in front of the store and drinking in cars parked in the 1300 and 1400 blocks of Brentwood Road.  On a number of occasions, I have witnessed these groups harassing women, trying to pick fights with passerby, publicly urinating and discarding empty liquor and beer bottles in neighbors’ yards.  As I have mentioned here before, allowing this type of low-level criminality to go unchecked an environment conducive to much more serious offenses.  Please do something about this.  Some of us who live in the area are afraid to patronize other business in the area after being accosted and pushed around by a group of bullying drunks loitering in front of Woodridge Vets two weekends ago,  PLEASE HELP.  Thank you.

      G. Franklin
