      Dear Marisa,
The H8 bus runs through the Brookland Metro Station (from Mount Pleasant) to the Rhode Island Metro Station down 12th Street.  RI Ave Metro is the end of the line.  It runs back also on 12th Street (and is then marked "Mount Pleasant").
I just noticed that you live on 4th or near there.  The H4 Bus runs along Michigan to Brookland Metro Station, where you could pick up the H8 (a little cumbersome, though).
The best thing to do is to use Metro's Ride Guide.  Go online to www.wmata.com  and enter your address, and the address of the place you want to go, and Metro will show you the possibilities.  We have often used it for going to places with which we were not familiar, since we don't have a car, and always use public transport.  It works quite well.

Thank you to everyone for their feedback!  I'll try either the
Safeway lot - or I'm looking into the bus route too - I don't live
too far away from the station (it's very walkable), I'm just nervous
about walking down 4th at night and I often have to work late or in

Thanks again for your feedback and for all that you do to keep us

(Lt. Craig, I can't tell you how bored I've been w/o some good
hockey action! Have a great day!)

      Regards -

shopping center is probably your best bet.  The price is right and
your car will be pretty safe.  We have had very few problems in the
shopping center and most of that has been on the end of 4th Street.
I hope this helps.  If you have any other concerns please feel free
to e-mail or call (office 202-727-4478).  By the way.  My
condolences on the hockey season (or the lack thereof).  Take care.
