I would hope in light of all of the GREAT strides that we, the MDP -5D, have accomplished over recent years, the threat of budget cuts will not undermined our continued success.

If not then, I would suggested that PSA 501 stays in tact!!!

      Thanks again

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced today that arrests have been made in the homicide of 20-year-old Demetrius Matthews, who was fatally shot in the 1900 block of Second Street, NE on Sunday, May 17, 2009.

As the result of the execution of multiple search warrants within the Fifth District by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of members of the United States Marshals Service, the Fifth District, and the department’s Emergency Response Team, 18-year-old Cornell Scrivner of Northeast DC was arrested on Thursday, July 30, 2009 by homicide detectives. He has been charged with Murder One While Armed in the shooting death of Mr. Matthews.

A second suspect, a 15-year-old male from Northeast, DC, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2009. He is also being charged with Murder One While Armed in the shooting death of Mr. Matthews. His identity is being withheld because he is a juvenile.

Here are pictures from it... As we were coming out at 6:15 to go to the movies, the fire trucks were just racing up. They are still all out there, hours later. No Harry Potter 6 for me tonight! :(

This building was recently taxed at the vacant property tax rate, and then listed on the tax sale list that was just published yesterday - as being sold for owing back taxes...

About 7:30 pm, there was an apartment building on fire at the southwest corner of 4th Street and Rhode Island Avenue, NE.   The cause of the fire has not been determined and at this time, there are no known injuries.
